What is a demi bra?
A demi bra (or demi-cup / half-cup bra) is a bra with cups that cover about half to three-quarters of the bust, cut lower than a full-coverage bra. The lower cut does two things: it lifts and pushes the bust up and together for natural cleavage, and it stays hidden under lower necklines. The straps are usually set wider apart, so a demi also works under wide or scooped tops. "Demi" means half — so it sits between a full cup (maximum coverage) and a balconette (an even more horizontal, shelf-like cut). A demi covers roughly the lower half to three-quarters of the bust, so there's less coverage at the top than a full cup — that's what creates the lifted, natural-cleavage look. Support still comes from the band and (in underwire styles) the wire, so a well-fitted demi holds and shapes well; it just shows a little more of the top of the bust.
02What necklines does a demi work under?+
Demis shine under scoop necks, V-necks, sweetheart and moderately low tops, because the lower cup and wider-set straps stay hidden. For very high or crew necklines a demi is invisible too. For square or off-shoulder tops a balconette sits better, and for a deep plunging V a plunge is the move.
