DD Cup Bras

There is no single answer, because the cup is relative to the band. A DD on a 28 band holds far less than one on a 44 band. DD sits five steps up from AA and is the last cup where US and UK labels agree. Always read the letter with its band number — a 34DD and a 40DD are very different volumes.

Yes. DD is the last cup where US and UK sizing use the same label, so a US 34DD and a UK 34DD are the same bra. The two systems only diverge above DD: the US goes DD, DDD, DDDD while the UK goes DD, E, F. That makes DD one of the easiest sizes to shop across both systems.

A DD is an EU E. The continental alphabet has no DD, so the volume that the US and UK call DD is labelled E in EU, French, Italian and Japanese sizing. A US/UK 34DD is an EU 75E. The band also changes number — a 34 band is an EU 75 — but the cup volume is identical.

The next size up is a US DDD, which is a UK E and an EU F — one body, three labels. If your DD cups are spilling over the top or under the arm on a band that fits, that is the size to try. Going up a cup is different from going up a band, so check the fit before assuming you need a bigger number.

DD is a curvy but mainstream size — one of the most commonly worn cups once women are fitted properly. It is a five-inch difference between bust and underbust, which sits at the entry of full-bust territory rather than deep in it. Whether it looks large depends entirely on the band it sits on, since the same letter holds very different volumes across bands.

Nine: 28DD, 30DD, 32DD, 34DD, 36DD, 38DD, 40DD, 42DD and 44DD, each its own collection with live stock. 34DD and 36DD are the deepest at 47 styles each; 42DD and 44DD are the smallest at 17 and 16. 28DD is a band most mainstream retailers do not make.

Sister sizes hold the same cup volume on a different band. If the cup fits but the band is loose or tight, size across: down a band means up a cup, and vice versa. A 34DD holds the same volume as a 32E and a 36D. It is the fastest fix when the cup is right but the band is not.

A riding band means the band is too big, not that the cup is too small. Go down a band and up a cup: if you wear 36DD, try 34E. The cup volume is identical and the firmer band will sit level and carry the weight instead of loading it onto the straps.

Measure your underbust snugly around the ribcage just beneath the bust, then measure around the fullest part of the bust without compressing. The difference gives your cup. If you fall between two bands, take the smaller one and go up a cup. Sizing varies by brand, so check each size chart before ordering.

Yes — DD has one of the fullest t-shirt ranges of any curvy cup. It is the last size where seam-free moulded cups still project and contain a full bust properly, so smooth, invisible-under-knits styles are plentiful here. Above DD the moulded range thins and seamed cups take over.

Yes, and DD strapless is a genuine range rather than a token option. Look for a deep, grippy band, silicone lining and light side boning, because the band carries all the support with no straps to help. Getting the band size exactly right matters more in a strapless than in any other style.

Yes. At DD, look for encapsulation — separate cups that hold each breast individually — ideally combined with compression and a wide, firm band. DD is roughly where compression-only sports bras stop controlling movement on their own, so encapsulation is worth prioritising for anything high impact.

The band sits snug and level all the way round and carries most of the support. The wire encircles the breast and lies flat on the ribs. The centre gore touches the sternum. The cup edge is smooth with no spillage or wrinkling. The straps sit comfortably without digging. If any of those are off, try a sister size before changing the cup letter.
