Our standard and what we have done

HauteFlair LLC is committed to making hauteflair.com usable by people with disabilities, whatever assistive technology they use.

The standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the W3C. These guidelines explain how to make web content perceivable, operable, understandable and robust for people who are blind or have low vision, who are deaf or hard of hearing, who have limited mobility, or who have cognitive or learning disabilities. We treat WCAG 2.2 as the direction of travel and adopt its additions as we rebuild pages.

The site runs on Shopify's platform. Shopify's checkout, customer accounts and payment screens are built and tested by Shopify to the same standard; see Shopify's accessibility statement.

What we have done

  • Pages use one H1 and a logical heading order, landmarks, and skip-to-content, so screen readers can move by structure.
  • Everything works with a keyboard alone: menus, filters, the size calculators, accordions and forms, with a visible focus ring on every control.
  • Text and controls meet a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against their background; state is never shown by color alone.
  • Text resizes to 200% and pages reflow to 320px wide without loss of content or horizontal scrolling.
  • Form fields have visible labels, clear error messages, and autocomplete hints for name, email and address.
  • Product images carry descriptions; interactive tools announce results to screen readers as they update.
  • Motion is minimal and switched off for visitors who set "reduce motion" in their system settings.
  • The fitting-room pages (calculator, charts, conversions) use plain language and provide the same answer in text that they show visually.

Known limitations

Honest list. Each one has a workaround, and each one is on our list to fix.

WhereThe issueWhat to do in the meantime
Older product photosSome images supplied by brands have generic or missing descriptions, so a screen reader may announce only the product name. The product title, color and description are in the text on every page. Email us the product link and we will describe the piece and its fit in a reply.
Product videosA few brand videos have no captions or transcript.Ask us for a written description of what the video shows.
Reviews, returns portal, pay-later screensThese are provided by third-party apps whose code we do not control; they may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA.Start a return or ask a review question by email or phone and we will handle it for you.
PDF size guides from brandsSome brand-supplied PDFs are not tagged for screen readers. Our own bra size chart and panty size chart are HTML, keyboard-operable and screen-reader friendly, and cover the same sizes.
Third-party embedsChat, social and advertising embeds may set focus or announce content unexpectedly.Tell us which one; we can usually disable it for you or point you to the same content on our site.

If the site is in the way, we are not

Anything you can do on hauteflair.com, our team can do with you. There is no charge and no extra wait.

Place an order

Call 1-800-964-5448, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Eastern, and we will take the order, confirm the size and read back the total. Or email help@hauteflair.com with what you want and we send a secure payment link.

Find your size

Send us two measurements, underbust and bust, and a fitter replies with your size in US, UK and EU and the styles that suit it. The calculator is also fully keyboard-operable and announces its result.

Returns, policies, anything else

We will start a return for you, read a policy aloud, or send any page as plain text or large-print PDF on request. Ask for whatever format works for you.

Tips for using the site with assistive technology

  • Press Tab to move between links and controls, Enter to activate them, and the arrow keys inside menus, sliders and the size grid.
  • Screen reader users can jump by heading (H key in most readers) or by landmark; each page has main, navigation and footer landmarks.
  • To enlarge text, use your browser's zoom (Ctrl or Cmd plus +). Pages reflow to a single column and nothing is cut off.
  • To reduce motion, turn on "Reduce motion" in your operating system's accessibility settings; the site honors it.
  • Browser and operating-system accessibility guides: Apple, Microsoft, Google.

How we test

We check pages with automated tools (Lighthouse and axe) and by hand: keyboard-only passes, screen-reader runs with VoiceOver on Safari and NVDA on Chrome, 200% zoom, and Windows high-contrast mode. New pages are checked before they go live; the rest of the site is reviewed on a rolling basis, and every reported issue is retested after the fix.

This statement was last reviewed on September 29, 2026. We update it when we fix an item above or find a new one.
