Panache Sport high-impact sports bra in grey and blue, showing the encapsulated moulded cups, wide cushioned straps and supportive underband

Panache Sports Bras

(6 products)

Most sports bras flatten. Panache Sport separates. Each breast sits in its own moulded cup, so movement is controlled in every direction — not just up and down — and the weight spreads across the band and cups instead of crushing inward. That's why it works from a D cup up where compression gives out. Note that Panache Sport runs firmer in the band and taller in the cup than the everyday range, and uses UK cup letters.

Panache Sports Bras: Encapsulation, Not Compression

Most sports bras flatten. Panache Sport separates. That single engineering choice — individual moulded cups instead of a compression shelf — is why it works at cup sizes where a standard sports bra simply gives up, and why it's the range full-busted runners keep coming back to.

Below: how encapsulation actually controls movement, the wired and non-wired models compared, the full band and cup range, why Panache Sport fits differently from Panache's everyday bras, and how to wash one without wrecking the support.

Quick Answer

What is a Panache sports bra?

A Panache sports bra is a high-impact, full-bust sports bra built on encapsulation rather than compression — each breast sits in its own moulded cup that lifts and separates, instead of being flattened against the chest. That's what makes it work at large cup sizes, and it avoids the single-shelf "uniboob" shape. The range covers underwired and non-wired styles across roughly bands 28–46 and cups B–J (UK sizing), with the underwired Ultimate (5021) as the flagship high-impact model. Panache uses UK cup letters, and Panache Sport runs firmer in the band and taller in the cup than its everyday bras — so your Sport size may differ from your usual Panache size. The Panache Sport models, compared

Two core constructions, both high-impact — the choice is wire versus no wire.

Model Built for Key features Typical range
Ultimate Underwire (5021) The highest-impact activity — running, HIIT, court sports Encapsulated moulded cups, flexible underwire, wide cushioned straps, hook-and-eye back, mesh panels Bands 28–40, cups B–J
Non-Wired / Wireless High impact without a wire — gym, training, all-day comfort Moulded inner cups that stabilise without wire, cushioned straps, breathable back Bands 28–40, cups B–H
Sculptresse Sport Fuller figures wanting a lighter feel at larger sizes Extended sizing with the same encapsulated support Larger bands and cups

Wire or no wire? Both are engineered for high impact — the wire isn't what makes it supportive, the cup construction is. Choose the underwire 5021 if you want maximum separation and the most locked-in feel for running. Choose non-wired if wires bother you during intense movement or you want something you can wear for hours without thinking about it. At the largest cup sizes the wired version generally offers more structure.

Encapsulation vs. compression sports bras

The single most important distinction in full-bust sportswear — and the reason Panache Sport works where others don't.

Encapsulation (Panache Sport) Compression Combination
How it works Each breast in its own moulded cup Flattens both against the chest wall Cups plus an outer compressive layer
Best cup range D cup and above; excels at F–J A–C cups C–F cups
Shape Lifted and separated, natural silhouette Single-shelf "uniboob" look Somewhere between
Movement control Controls vertical and side-to-side movement Controls mainly vertical movement Good all-round
Comfort at size Distributes weight across band and cups Can feel crushing at larger cups Can layer bulk

Why this matters at a full bust: breasts move in three dimensions, not just up and down. A compression bra presses tissue inward and mostly limits vertical bounce, which is enough at a small cup but not at a G. Encapsulation holds each side independently, so it controls the side-to-side and figure-eight movement too — and it does it without the crushing feeling that makes larger-busted people layer two sports bras. That's the entire design premise of Panache Sport. Browse all high-impact sports bras.

Panache Sport sizing: UK to US

Panache is British and uses UK cup letters. Band numbers match; the cup letters don't.

UK cup (Panache) US equivalent Notes
D D Aligned up to here
DD DD Still aligned
E DDD / F Where the two systems split
F G UK F sits one letter behind US G
FF H UK "double" letters have no US equivalent
G H / I Varies slightly by chart
GG–J I and up Full-bust territory — check the chart

Band numbers are identical in both systems — a 34 is a 34. Only the cup letter shifts. Quick starting points: US DDD ≈ UK E, US G ≈ UK F, US H ≈ UK FF. So a US 34G shopper starts at a UK 34F in Panache. Common Panache Sport sizes include 30F, 32E, 34E, 34G, 36DD, 36FF and 38H — but always confirm against the size chart for the specific model, because the Sport range fits differently from Panache's everyday bras.

If you've ever worn two sports bras at once, you weren't solving a support problem — you were compensating for the wrong construction. One encapsulated bra in the right size does what two compression bras can't.

Sizing, fit checks, impact levels, the models and how to make one last.

01How Panache Sport sizing runs+

This is the single most common source of confusion, so it's worth being precise. Panache Sport does not fit like Panache's everyday bras:

  • The band runs firm. That's deliberate — the band carries most of the support in a high-impact bra, and it needs to be tighter than an everyday band.
  • The cups run tall. The moulded cup has more height than a typical everyday cup, which is why some people find their usual cup letter has room to spare.
  • Many people size down one cup from their regular Panache size — for example, a 36F in the everyday range may fit best as a 36E in Sport.
  • Or up one band if the firm band feels restrictive rather than supportive.

Start with your regular Panache size, then adjust using the fit checks below. If you're new to the brand entirely, remember Panache uses UK cup letters — see the conversion table above.

02The fit check: five things to look for+

Do this in a mirror, in profile, on the loosest hook — and jump up and down before you judge it:

  • Band: firm and horizontal across the back. If it rides up when you raise your arms, go down a band.
  • Cups: tissue fully enclosed with no spilling at the top or under the arm — and no gaping or wrinkling at the cup edge either. Wrinkling means too big.
  • Lift, not squash: the moulded cup should lift and separate. If it's pressing tissue flat, something's wrong with the size.
  • Straps: snug but not carrying the weight. If you loosen them and everything drops, the band is too loose.
  • The jump test: movement should be minimal in every direction, not just up and down.

Scoop and swoop first — lean forward and settle all the tissue into the cup — before you decide the size is wrong. A surprising share of "this doesn't fit" is tissue that never made it into the cup.

03Matching the bra to your activity+

Impact level should drive the choice more than personal preference about wires:

  • High impact — running, HIIT, jumping, tennis, aerobics. The Ultimate underwire is the strongest option; the non-wired is rated high-impact too and works well for many.
  • Medium impact — cycling, weight training, hiking, elliptical. Either model handles this comfortably.
  • Low impact — yoga, pilates, walking. A Sport bra works, though you may prefer something lighter for comfort.

The larger your cup size, the more the impact level matters. At a G cup, even brisk walking generates meaningful movement — which is why full-bust wearers often want a high-impact bra for activities a smaller-busted person would call low impact.

04Why encapsulation controls movement better+

Breast tissue has no muscle in it — it's supported by skin and connective tissue, and during exercise it moves in a three-dimensional figure-eight pattern, not a simple bounce:

  • Compression addresses one axis. Pressing tissue against the chest limits vertical movement but does comparatively little for side-to-side and rotational motion.
  • Encapsulation addresses all of them. Holding each breast independently in a structured cup controls movement in every direction at once.
  • It also spreads the load. Weight is distributed across the band, cups and straps rather than concentrated in one compressive squeeze — which is why it's more comfortable at larger cup sizes.
  • The shape difference is a side effect, not the point: separate cups give a natural silhouette instead of a single flattened shelf.

Panache commissioned independent testing on its Sport range and cites a substantial reduction in breast movement versus an unsupported baseline. Treat any specific percentage as a manufacturer claim rather than a universal result — your own reduction depends on fit, size and activity.

05Making a Panache sports bra last+

A sports bra's support lives in its elastane, and elastane is destroyed by heat and detergent buildup. Care is not optional here:

  • Hand wash in cool water with a gentle detergent. Let it soak briefly, then rinse thoroughly rather than scrubbing.
  • No fabric softener, ever. It coats the technical fibres and kills both the wicking and the recovery.
  • Press, don't wring. Squeeze the water out gently and reshape the cups by hand.
  • Air dry flat or on a rack. Never tumble dry — heat is what turns a supportive band into a loose one.
  • Rotate two or three bras so the elastic recovers fully between wears, and always wash out sweat rather than letting it sit.

If you machine wash despite the above, use a lingerie bag on cool and gentle with the hooks fastened — but hand washing genuinely doubles the useful life of a high-impact bra.

Panache sports bra FAQ

The questions shoppers ask most, answered straight.

Where can I buy a Panache sports bra?

HauteFlair stocks Panache sports bras in both underwired and non-wired styles across the full-bust size range, alongside the wider Panache line. Because Panache Sport fits differently from standard sports bras, buying from a specialist full-bust retailer generally beats a general marketplace — you get the size range and the fit guidance together. Browse Panache sports bras.

What are the benefits of a Panache sports bra?

The core benefit is encapsulation: each breast sits in its own moulded cup, so movement is controlled in every direction rather than just vertically, and the weight spreads across the band and cups instead of crushing inward. Practical results are less bounce during high-impact activity, less strap and shoulder discomfort, a natural separated shape rather than a single flattened shelf, and wide cushioned straps with breathable, moisture-wicking fabric.

What sizes do Panache sports bras come in?

The range spans roughly bands 28–46 and cups B–J in UK sizing, depending on model. The underwired Ultimate (5021) is widely available in bands 28–40 across B–J cups, while the non-wired style typically runs B–H. Sculptresse Sport extends the larger end. Availability varies by style and colour, so check the size chart on the specific bra.

How do I choose the right Panache sports bra?

Start with your impact level — underwired Ultimate for running and HIIT, non-wired for gym and all-day comfort. Then get the size right: Panache Sport runs firm in the band and tall in the cup, so many people size down one cup from their regular Panache size (a 36F may fit best as 36E) or go up one band if the fit feels restrictive. Check that the band sits firm and horizontal and the cups fully enclose without gaping or wrinkling.

How do you care for a Panache sports bra?

Hand wash in cool water with a gentle detergent and no fabric softener. Let it soak briefly, rinse thoroughly, press out the excess water without wringing, reshape the cups, and air dry flat or on a rack. Never tumble dry — heat destroys the elastane that provides the support. Rotating two or three bras lets the elastic recover between wears and extends their life considerably.

Do Panache sports bras run true to size?

Not quite the same as the everyday range. Panache Sport is cut with a firmer band and a taller cup, so it often fits differently from your usual Panache size — many people find they need one cup size down, or one band size up for comfort. Start with your regular size, then adjust. And remember Panache uses UK cup letters, so a US DDD starts at a UK E.

Is the Panache underwire or non-wired sports bra better?

Both are high-impact — the support comes from the encapsulated cup construction, not the wire. The underwired Ultimate (5021) gives the most separation and the most locked-in feel, which suits running and other high-impact activity. The non-wired version suits anyone who finds wires uncomfortable during intense movement or wants to wear it for hours. At the very largest cup sizes, the wired version generally offers more structure.

What is the Panache Ultimate 5021 sports bra?

The 5021 is the style number for Panache's underwired high-impact sports bra — the flagship of the Sport range and the model most often meant by "the Panache sports bra." It combines encapsulated moulded cups with a flexible underwire, wide cushioned straps, a hook-and-eye back and breathable panels, and is built for the highest-impact activity.

What's the difference between encapsulation and compression?

A compression bra presses both breasts flat against the chest wall; an encapsulation bra holds each one in its own cup. Compression works well up to about a C cup and mainly limits vertical movement. Encapsulation controls movement in every direction and distributes weight rather than squeezing, which is why it's the right construction from a D cup upward — and why Panache Sport is built that way.

Is Panache good for large busts and plus sizes?

Yes — Panache is a full-bust specialist, and the Sport range is designed for D cup and above rather than being a scaled-up small-bust pattern. Cups run to J (K in some styles) and bands into the 40s, with the Sculptresse range extending the fullest sizes. See our plus size bras for more.

Can I wear a Panache sports bra for running?

That's exactly what it's built for. Running is the highest-impact common activity, and the encapsulated construction controls the three-dimensional movement that a compression bra can't at a full bust. The underwired Ultimate is the strongest choice for it; the non-wired is also rated high-impact if you prefer no wire.

How often should I replace a sports bra?

When the band stops doing its job. A high-impact bra typically needs replacing every 6–12 months with regular use, sooner if you train often. The tell is the band: if it no longer feels firm on the tightest hook, the elastane has gone and the support with it, however good the cups still look. Careful washing and rotating between bras extends that window significantly.

Sizing and fit guidance here is general and reflects how Panache Sport typically fits; size ranges, model availability and construction vary by style and season, so always check the size chart and care label for the specific bra you're buying. Movement-reduction figures cited by any manufacturer reflect their own commissioned testing under set conditions and will vary with fit, size and activity. Size availability reflects current stock.
