The HauteFlair Edit · Updated 2026

Plus size crotchless panties, mostly pearl thongs rather than panties

Five styles in stock from $12.50 to $36, in 1X/2X and 3X/4X combined grades plus single 1X to 3X on one style.

Three of the five replace the gusset with a strand of beads, so they are pearl thongs. Two are panties in the ordinary sense. Said up front so you are not working it out from the grid.

For teddies, bodysuits and the full explanation of the category, see plus size crotchless lingerie.

Quick answer

Three of the five are strand thongs, and none of the five is really wearable under clothes

A crotchless panty can be built three ways, and only one of them disappears under clothing: the overlapping split seam, where two fabric panels sit over each other. There is none of that construction in stock at the moment. What is here is three pearl thongs, which have a strand of beads where the gusset would be, and two sheer lace panties. All five are built to be seen rather than worn under a work shirt. If that is what you wanted, this is the right page and the cheapest thing on it is $12.50. If you wanted something that reads as ordinary underwear from the outside, nothing here does that today.

What is actually in stock

Five styles, and the construction is the thing that separates them.

Style Construction Sizes Price
Pearl thong, lace and sheer A strand of beads in place of the gusset 1X/2X and 3X/4X From $12.50
Pearl G-string, lace and sheer The same, cut narrower at the back Three colors, one fit $17.25
Ruffle panty, Olivia Open gusset with a ruffle trim 1/2X and 3/4X $15.30
Sheer lace panty Open gusset, strappy lace and mesh 1X/2X and 3X/4X $15
Keyhole-back bikini, Hanky Panky Open at the back as well as the gusset Single 1X, 2X and 3X $36

The construction the collection is missing is the overlapping split seam, which is the only kind that reads as an ordinary lace panty from the outside. If that is what you came for, it is worth checking back rather than substituting an open gusset style, because they do not behave the same way.

Where to start

Four ways people arrive here, and where each one should go.

You want the cheapest way in

A pearl thong at $12.50, in 1X/2X or 3X/4X. It is the most minimal construction in the category and it is sized almost entirely from the waistband.

Shop pearl thongs

You want something closer to underwear

The Hanky Panky keyhole-back bikini is the only style here in single sizes rather than a combined grade, and the closest thing to an ordinary panty shape, though it is still sheer lace.

Shop plus size panties

You want a full-length piece instead

Teddies, bodysuits and babydolls with an open gusset sit on the wider crotchless lingerie page, along with the explanation of how the sizing works across the category.

You wanted it to work under clothes

Nothing here manages that today, because the split-seam construction is out of stock. A plain lace brief or thong is the better buy if discretion is the point.

Questions

Are most of these pearl thongs rather than panties?

Yes, and it is worth knowing before you scroll. Three of the five styles in stock replace the gusset with a strand of beads rather than splitting it or leaving it open, so they are pearl thongs. The two that are panties in the ordinary sense are the Hanky Panky keyhole-back bikini and the iCollection ruffle panty. If you came looking for something that reads as everyday underwear, those two are the ones to look at.

What size should I order?

Most styles here come in combined grades, 1X/2X and 3X/4X, so you choose which half of the pair you sit in and you should decide that on your hip measurement rather than your usual dress size. The Hanky Panky bikini is the exception and comes in single 1X, 2X and 3X. The chart on each product page is the authority, because these grades are not standardized between makers.

Can any of these be worn under clothes?

Not really, as the collection currently stands. Pearl thongs have a strand where the gusset would be and nothing holding the leg openings in position, so they shift as you move. The keyhole-back bikini is the closest thing here to a wearable option, but it is sheer lace and designed to be seen. If you want a crotchless panty that reads as ordinary underwear from the outside, that is a split-seam style and there is none in stock right now.

What is a pearl thong?

A thong with a strand of beads strung between the front and the back in place of a fabric gusset. There is no panel there at all, which makes it the most minimal construction in the category. It is sized almost entirely from the waistband, which is why these arrive as 1X/2X and 3X/4X rather than single sizes, and it is also the cheapest thing on this page, starting at $12.50.

Do these come in 4X?

Several do, through the combined 3X/4X grade: the pearl thong, the ruffle panty and the BDSM lace panty all run to 3X/4X. The Hanky Panky bikini stops at a single 3X. So the top of the range here is covered, but by a shared grade rather than a dedicated 4X, and the measurement on the chart matters more than the label does.

How do I wash these?

Hand wash in cold water and lay flat to dry. Never a dryer, because heat destroys the elastic in the waistband and leg openings, and on a garment this minimal the elastic is the only thing holding the shape. Wash pearl strands by hand and never wring them, so the stringing does not weaken. Wash dark and red pieces separately the first time, since dye transfer onto a pale piece does not come out.

Why are these sized 1X/2X instead of single sizes?

Because there is almost no structure in them to grade. A garment with a shaped cup, a closure or a fitted waistband has to land in a specific place, so it gets a single size. A pearl thong or an open gusset panty is held by a waistband and leg elastic and nothing else, so the stretch covers two sizes at once and the maker grades it in pairs. It is cheaper to produce and it works reasonably well on minimal garments. It is also why the hip measurement matters more than the label.

Will the pearls come off?

Not in normal wear, but the stringing is the weak point and it is the thing to protect. The beads are strung on a cord that is anchored at the front and the back, so the risk is not a single bead detaching, it is the cord weakening and the whole strand going. Hand wash only, never wring it, never put it anywhere near a dryer, and do not stretch the strand to check how strong it is, because that is what loosens it.

What colors are in stock?

Black across almost everything, plus pink and red on the two pearl styles, black with red and black with pink on the sheer lace panty, and white on the ruffle panty. The Hanky Panky keyhole-back bikini is black only. If you want anything other than black, the pearl thongs carry the widest choice and they are also the cheapest, which makes them the easiest place to try a color.

Where do I find the rest of the crotchless range?

On the wider plus size crotchless lingerie page, which covers teddies, bodysuits and babydolls as well as panties, and explains the three different constructions and the four size systems in use across them. This page is only the panties. If you are open to a full-length piece or want the fuller explanation of how the category is put together, start there instead.
