Fishnet: Net Size Decides Everything
Fishnet comes in three scales and they read completely differently. Micro-net looks like texture. Classic diamond is the recognisable one. Wide net is a statement. Same colour, same price bracket, entirely different effect.

What are fishnet stockings?
Fishnet stockings are hosiery knitted in an open diamond mesh rather than a solid fabric, so skin shows through the weave by design. They come as thigh-highs, which stop on the thigh and need a garter belt or a silicone band, and as fishnet tights, which run from waist to toe in one piece and hold themselves up. The mesh comes in three scales: micro-net, where the holes are a few millimetres and read as texture; classic diamond, the familiar mid-size; and wide net, where the openings are an inch or more. The three net scales
This is the decision. Everything else is colour and length.

Stockings or tights

Does denier apply to fishnet?
Not in the same way. Denier measures yarn weight and decides how sheer a solid tight is. In fishnet, coverage comes from the size of the hole, so net scale matters more than the number.
Do fishnets ladder like sheer tights?
Less often. Each opening is bounded by its own knot, so a snag tends to stay local rather than running the length of the leg. Wider nets are the most durable for this reason.
Can you wear fishnets in the cold?
They give almost no warmth, since most of the surface is open. Layering a sheer or opaque pair underneath is common, and it also mutes the net for a softer look.
Do fishnet stockings come in plus sizes?
Yes. Most styles here come in OS and Queen. Queen is cut with more give across the hip and thigh, which also keeps the net from stretching flat and losing its pattern.
Why does my fishnet look stretched out?
The size is too small for the thigh or hip, so the diamonds are pulled into flattened shapes. A larger size restores the pattern; the net should sit as diamonds, not as long ovals.
How do I wash fishnets?
Hand wash in cool water or use a mesh bag on the gentlest cycle, then air dry. Keep them away from anything with hooks or zips, since the open weave catches far more easily than a solid knit.
