What is a padded bra?
A padded bra has a layer of foam or fibre-fill added to the cups. That padding does three jobs, depending on where it's placed: it smooths the shape for a clean, rounded line and nipple coverage, it adds modesty under thin fabrics, and — when it's concentrated at the bottom and sides — it lifts and pushes up for cleavage (a push-up bra). The terms overlap: a molded / contour bra has smooth, pre-shaped padded cups (the classic t-shirt bra look); a push-up is a padded bra with the padding angled for lift; and lightly lined means just enough foam to smooth without adding size. 01Does a padded bra make you look bigger?+
It depends on the padding. A lightly lined or molded bra smooths and rounds the shape without really adding size — it just gives a cleaner line. A push-up bra with thick base padding will visibly lift and can make the bust look fuller.
